Lhasa literally means” the Place of Deities” in the Tibetan language, the name itself today still equals to holiness, power and exoticism to most of travelers. And this 4 days Lhasa Holy Landmarks City Tour is made exactly to show you the best flavor of this exotic holy power into the Himalayas. Nothing to visit but rest and acclimatize best on your arrival day; on the second day, you will visit the soaring and solemn Potala Palace that still looks very awe-inspiring even with the absence of its host. The Johkang Temple with never-ended prostrating pilgrims and the bustling Barkhor Street with its surrounding beautiful whitewashed traditional dwellings makes this old Tibetan quarter the best walk in Lhasa; on the third day, we will have a chance to go into the yards, chapels and halls of the most important monasteries in Lhasa, to have a up-close experience to those “universities” in ancient times. At Drepung Monastery, to feel the vicissitudes of this historic monastery used to have more than 10 thousands monks living and studying here, yet today much less. At Sera Monastery, you can enjoy watching the script debating and learn their Buddhism philosophy from your guide.

user portrait Ms. cristina cardoso from: 10 Days Tibet Mt. Everest Base Camp plus Namtso Lake Group Tour
Obrigado

user portrait Ms. Thanh Trinh from: Travel from Gyirong Port to Kathmandu
Hi there,
My group have 6 people want to go to Lhasa via Kathmandu by both flight and drive on July or August. We do want to do any tour in Kathmandu, Nepal. KTM is just a connecting place for us to apply Tibetan visa and permit. Based on that, how long would we should plan for this trip? Because I still have no idea how long for the drive from KTM to Lhasa.
Hope to hear back from you guys soon.
Thank you and best regards.
Answered by Helen

Dear Ms. Thanh Trinh,

Entering Tibet from Nepal, you need to apply for the Chinese group visa in Kathmandu. Firstly, we will apply for the visa invitation letter for you; Next we will send the visa invitation letter to you and our partner in Kathmandu; When you arrive in Kathmandu, you need to meet with our partner and give him your original passport, then he will assist you to apply for the Chinese group visa. Group visa application needs 3 or 4 working days, during that time, you can travel other places in Nepal with your passport copy.

The distance from Kathmandu to Gyirong Port is about 170km and it takes approximately 8-9 hours by car due to not good road condition. Please check your email and find more details. Have a nice day.
