Hiking from the lodging area of the Tourists Base Camp to the actual Base Camp is one of the most popular things to do at the area. The views are spectacular there, especially during the sunset and sunrise. The single-way trail is about 4km long, one can finish around 1.5 hours depends on the physical condition.

Watching the Sunrise/Sunset
The sunrise and sunset are a very stunning experience in the Tibetan side of north face Mount Everest resembling a shape of pyramid. The height of the surrounding mountains cause the sun rise more in the northeast given Mount Everest a golden glow on a clear morning. The golden glow can also be seen with the northwesterly sunsets. Of the sunrise and the sunset, sunset view is more frequent to see considering fog and clouds are still very heavy in the early morning. What follows you can see times of sunset and sunrise in different months at EBC.

Watching the Stars
During the night there’s a great opportunity to see the amazing starry sky. On a clear night the stars can be seen very clearly in the sky, because there are fewer atmospheres in the way and less light pollution. For taking pictures of the starry skies you should take your DSLR and tripod with you.
