Day 1: Arrival upon Lhasa

Day 2: Lhasa city tour
Highlights: Potala Palace, Johkang Temple
Schedule today: In the morning, visit the symbol or landmark of Lhasa- Potala Palace (video), the successive Dalai Lama’s winter residence. In the afternoon, visit the center of Tibetan Buddhism- Johkang Temple (video), where you will come across lots of devoted pilgrimages coming from every corner of Tibet. Both sites are under the list of the world cultural heritages by the UNISCO. Afterwards, free time for you to wander through the Barkhor Street, the busiest street in old Lhasa quarter.

Day 3: Lhasa city tour
Highlights: Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery
Schedule today: In the morning, we will visit Drepung Monastery which is the biggest Tibetan Buddhism College with the biggest number of monks in Tibet. The monastery used to be the winter residence of the Dalai Lama before the 5th Dalai Lama moved his residency to the Potala Palace. And in the afternoon, we will visit another influential Gelugpa Monastery- Sera Monastery (video), where you can see the largest scale of sutra debating (video) among monks is famous all across Tibet.

Day 4: Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Lhasa
Highlights: Hiking along Yamdrok Lake
Schedule today: After breakfast at hotel in Lhasa, we drive towards the holy Lake of Yamdrok that is only 120km away from Lhasa, enroute, we can view grand Lhasa river, some unknown snowy mountains and some really nice Tibetan small villages. The holy lake lies on the other side of Gangbala Mountain which is 5030 meters high, and the road leads to the lake zigzags up to the Gangbala Pass (4990m) which offers a panoramic view of the belt-like holy lake with lofty snow-capped Mt. Ningjingkangsang in far background. Unlike other hectic coach tour, we can do some relaxing hike here to find the best point for a panoramic picture of the lake. Then, drive down till the shore of the lake, there we can continue our hike to touch the water, to feel the breeze, to smile to the herdsman and even bring our tents and mattress for a rest and picnic. In the afternoon, we drive back to Lhasa.

Day 5: Leave Lhasa
Schedule today: Tour ends, our guide and driver will drop you off at airport or train station in Lhasa. Welcome to Tibet next time.

Thanks very much for your inquiry, and welcome you to join our 5 days Yamdrok Lake tour. For your questions:
1. We will help you apply for Tibet Permit, which requires copy of your passports anc Chinese visas, and it usually takes 15-20 days, then we will deliver the permit to your hotel in Beijing.
2. Yes, the first day is the day of arrival in Tibet, for example, if you start your tour on 10th of June, you need to arrive in Lhasa on 10th of June.
3. If you take train to Lhasa, our guide can pick you up any time on arrival day, Lhasa train station is not very far from downtown. On the last day, we have three free drop-off times, it takes about one hour from downtown to Lhasa airport, you can book flights according to the drop-off time.
