Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival upon Lhasa

Highlight: Arrival & Pick-up &Acclimation

Schedule today: Arrival at Lhasa at airport or train station today, our guide and driver will pick you up and transfer you to hotel for acclimatization; you can take rest or have your free time hanging out at this holy city to get the first impression of Tibet.

Day 2: Lhasa city tour

Highlights: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple,Barkhor Street

Schedule today: In the morning, visit the symbol or land mark of Lhasa-Potala Palace, the successive Dalai Lama’s winter palace since the 7th Century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. In the afternoon, visit the center of Tibetan Buddhism- Jokhang temple where you will come across lots of devoted pilgrimages coming from every comer of Tibet. Inside Jokhang temple you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve, perhaps the single most venerated object in Tibet Buddhism. Both sits are under the list of the world cultural heritages by the UNESCO. Afterwards, free time for you to wander through the Barkhor Street, the busiest street in old Lhasa quarter.

Day 3: Lhasa- Gyantse -Shigatse (360 km/ 6-7 hours on wheel)

Highlights: Lake Yamdrok , Pelchor Monastery ,Tashi lhunpo monastery

Schedule today: In the morning, drive to the historic town of Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake, according to local mythology, Yamdrok Lake is the transformation of a goddess, on the Gangbala Pass, you will have a clear picture of this Tibetan holy lake in turquoise, in distance you can also see the snowcapped Summit of Ninjingkangsang. In Gyantse, you will find the largest stupa in Tibet - Kumpa Stupa (Ten-thousand stupa), just next to the Stupa is the Pelchor Monastery. Another important site in Gyantse is Dzong Castle which once was a battle field where Tibetan fought against British invasion. Then we will head to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, and we’ll visit Tashilhunpo Monastery there which is the seat of Tibet's second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama.

Day 4: Shigatse- Lhatse-Shegar-Everest Base Camp

Highlights: Gyatso Pass, Rongbuk Monastery

Schedule today: In the morning after breakfast, our guide will go to tourism bureau in Shigatse to apply for PSB permit for Mt. Everest, which will take about 1.5 hour. After obtaining the permit, we will drive directly towards Mt. Everest. On the top of the Gyalpo-la pass you can see 4 of the highest mountains over 8000 meters (Mt. Everest; Mt. Makalu; Mt. Lotse; Mt. Cho Oyu) in the world at the same time, what a great picture. Before arriving at the EBC, you will first visit the highest monastery in the world - Rongbuk Monastery, which is also a good position to watch the Everest; the sunset view is fantastic when weather is good.

Day 5: Everest Base Camp-Shigatse

Highlights: Green Bus to EBC, Everest Base Camp

Schedule today: Wake up early in the morning to view the very fantastic sunrise over the peak of Mt. Everest. After breakfast, you will have opportunity to hike(from tent to Base camp 4/km one way) at the EBC to discover the charm of the highest place you may reach through your life, if you think hiking is too tough, you can just take the green bus to the EBC. And we will drive back to Shigatse this night.

Day 6: Shigatse- Lhasa (300 km/ about 5 hours on wheel)

Highlights: the Brahmaputra River

Schedule today: In the morning, we will drive back to Lhasa along the Brahmaputra River (the Yarlung Tsangpo River), the Longest and largest river in Tibet); the free time is on your own.

Day 7: Depart from Lhasa

Schedule today: Tour ends, our guide and driver will drop you off at airport or train station in Lhasa. Welcome to Tibet next time.

Greetings from Nancy Chung at BTT. For the 7 Days Lhasa to Kathmandu Tour via Everest Base Camp, there will not be much walking daily as you will be driven to each place and dropped off there. And please no worry about your age, ha-ha… we had clients who were 83 years old taking this tour before without problem, and I think you will be ok too. best regards to you.

I am interested in 15 day Kailash-Mansarovar tour probably in Late Oct 2018 so that I will have enough time to obtain visa etc. Which aitrport you expect people to arrive at. Do you help with booking airfares. Does tour include walk around Mt Kailash?

Greetings from Nancy Chung at BTT. We will have 15 days Tibet Mount Kailash Trekking plus Mt. Everest Base Camp on 15th Oct. and I am sure you will have enough time to apply your China visa. Normally people will arrive in Lhasa Gongga airport(LXA), then our guide will be there to meet people and transfer to downtown with 3 times daily. There will be 3days for trekking around Kailash included, so you will have enough trekking if you will take this tour. I will send you more details by email. Best wishes to you.
