user portrait Mr. To*** from: What documents are required to travel from Nepal to Tibet?

Hello  I am planning a trip to Katmandu and on to Lhasa and Mt. Kalias. I am  pilgrim. Let me know costs and details I intend to fly or go overload from Katmandu Lhasa etc. Thx.

Answered by Helen

Dear Mr. To***,

Thanks very much for your inquiry. Travelling to Tibet from Nepal, you need to apply for Chinese Group Visa in Kathmandu. Firstly, we'll apply for visa invitation letter with copy of your passport. Next, we'll send visa invitation letter to you and our partner in Kathmandu. When you arrive in Kathmandu, you need to meet with our partner and give them your original passport, then they will go to Chinese embassy and apply for Chinese Group Visa for you. When you board plane from Kathmandu to Lhasa, they'll only check your passport and Chinese Group Visa. Apart from Chinese Group Visa, you also need Tibet Permit, we'lll apply for Tibet Permit for you in Lhasa, and our guide will pick you up at Lhasa airport with your permit. I will send detailed itinerary to your email, please check it. Thanks & Regards

My problem is that I don't have a normal tourist Visa but my Visa type is F. Does this visa type need any special documents when applying for the Tibet Travel Permit?

user portrait Mr. Vi*** from: 15 days Tibet Mount Kailash Trekking plus Mt. Everest Base Camp

In regards to the 15 Day Mt. Kailash Kora Pilgrimage Tour. Do you have an Office in Kathmandu and can I leave from there to Lhasa. What is your cost in Cdn.$,and does this include meals and entrance fees. Do you have English speaking guides? And how long does it take to get a Kailash Permit and a Chinese Visa?

Answered by Nancy

Dear Mr. Vi***,

Greetings from Nancy at Budget Tibet Tour, thanks for visiting our website and sending your inquiry.
1)We do not have office in Kathmandu, but we have business partner there who will take care of China visa application. And if you would like to enter Tibet from Kathmandu, you need to book a flight to fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu as we do not have group tour starting from Kathmandu yet.
2) Please kindly let me know when you would like to take the group tour, as in peak season( 26th June to 15th Oct it is 1940$ which is about 2540CAD$, and in other time it is 1730$ which is about 2268CAD$ per person.
3) This cost includes the entrance fee but do not include the meals, and for the meals of 15 days, it will cost around 220-250CAD$ per person in total.
4) Yes, our guide are English speaking Tibetan guide.
5) If you enter Tibet from Kathmandu, you must apply China visa in Kathmandu which will need 3 working days there, and we will send the visa invitation letter to our business partner there, and you arrive in Kathmandu and meet him and leave your passport to him, and you can travel in whole Nepal with your passport copies. And the Tibet permit will cost about 25 days, and you will not need the Tibet permit until you arrive in Lhasa airport, and our guide will take the original one to wait you at China Costumes there.
Best regards.

Hi,

I would be interested in your 8 Days Tibet Mt. Everest Base Camp Group Tour starting on 3rd of October. I am a solo traveler, but I wouln't mind sharing a room with someone, if that reduces the costs. I have also a few questions to ask, if that's okay:
1) Can I just double check  - do you assist with sorting out Tibet permit and if so, what do I need to provide you with?
2) I was planning on arriving to Lhasa by train from Chengdu - do I make a train ticket booking by myself or through your agency?
3) Like I mentioned previously, I am a solo traveler, happy to share the room with other travelers to reduce the costs, but what is the cots of the single supplement?
4) This Tibet tour is part of my backpacking tour across China. I have a single entry, 30- day visa and I'm entering China on 20th of September. I know that Tibet is politically part of China, but I want to just double check - is it okay for me to  continue my travel in China after this Tibet tour? Going from Lhasa to Xi'an  won't be counted as a 2nd entry?

Sorry for so many questions!
Many thanks and kind regards,

Ewa Baranska
