If you enter from Chinese side, you can take train or flight with your passport, Chinese visa (obtained in your country) and Tibet permit (sent to you by your Tibet tour operator). Send by email the scan copy of your passport to your Tibet tour operator who is going to apply for the Visa Invitation Letter for Tourist Group for you issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau. Remember that this must be done at least 15 days before your Tibet tour starts.
It takes about 4 working days for your Tibet tour operator to get the invitation letter and permit issued from the Tibet Tourism Bureau, and then we will fax the letter and permit to our visa agent in Kathmandu who is going to apply for the Chinese Group Visa for you.

After all the documents obtained in hand, now your Tibet tour from Nepal really starts. There are only two ways to travel to Tibet from Nepal, by air or by overland. (1): By air, you can fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa with the only available airline-Air China (www.airchina.com), we advise you book your air ticket as early as possible, because it’s cheaper to book early; our guide and driver will then pick you up at airport in Lhasa with travel permit. (2): By overland, if you want Nepal to Tibet overland tours, you can rent a taxi from Kathmandu to Gyirong (border) by yourself, after finishing all the border formalities at both sides, the Chinese border army will lead you to our guide (with travel permit) who will be waiting for you at the border.
