Now, the Gyirong Port(E85.30/N28.85) between China and Nepal is the only available open port for international tourists to travel between China and Nepal by overland, the port is near Syabrubesi town in Nepal, about half hour driving distance. After Zhangmu Port was damaged by earthquake in 2015, Gyirong Port is a new port open for normal tourists. Another one is located in Purang County in Nagri, but it is only available for Indian pilgrims and the goods trade there, not open to normal tourists yet. Gyirong Port is around 170km to Kathmandu and 850km to Lhasa. The China Customs works from 10:00 to 17:00 in Chinese time (GMT+8), sometimes for safety issues they would close earlier in the afternoon. Note that Nepal time is 2.15 hours later than Chinese time.

I want to visit in Oct 2020 and do the Mt Kailash tour. I want to bring two of my grandchildren - aged 8 and 10 years old. Do you think it is possible?
Dear Mr. Ul***,
Greetings from Nancy at Budget Tibet Tour, thanks for visiting our website and sending your inquiry. I think it will be no problem for you to bring your grandchildren to do the trekking, as we had clients before who took child less than 4 years old did it, and they hired porter to carry him for some part. If you like, you can hire a horse and horse man to carry them to save the energy there. And also I recommend you to arrive in Lhasa1-2days earlier to make the children adjust the high place better if you have enough time. And I will send you the tour details, please check it by email. Best regards.
