Normally you do not need to go to Chinese Embassy on your own in Kathmandu. But if you apply for a 3 months-duration visa for China, you might be asked by the embassy to have an interview, sometimes if the embassy workers have some doubts about your nationality and travel motivation, they will call you too. So leave your contact information to the visa application person is a must in Kathmandu just in case you will be requested for interview there.
Chinese Visa Application Form
For the files for the group visa application, you need to have your original passport attached with your Nepal visa, fill the application form and affix one recent color passport photo(full face, front view, bareheaded and against a plain light colored background), the photo size is 48mmx33mm. And also the Visa Invitation Letter copy which we will apply from the Tibet Travel Bureau beforehand. Last but not the least is the visa fee. You can give them all to the agent in Kathmandu, then wait for about 3 working days, and you can get your China group visa there.

Hi, I plan to arrive in Lhasa on the 9th of March in 2020 by train and would like to do a 4 day tour. Unfortunately there are no tours scheduled between January and April, will there be tours added or are there not any planned?
Kind regards
Julian Franz
Hello Mr. Ju***,
Thanks very much for your inquiry. We currently have no group tour in February and March, if you would like to travel Tibet in these months, we are able to arrange a private tour for you. While there are several confirmed departure date for the group tour in January and April, if your time is flexible, you may consider joining a group tour in April. I will send detailed itinerary to your email, please check it. Warm regards.
